Makos are sharks that are incredibly fast swimmers and can also leap out of the water. The warm muscles help the mako swim faster, reaching speeds up to 60 mph. Mako sharks reach a maximum length up to 12.5 feet and may weigh as much as 1,000 pounds. Makos eat schooling fish including tuna, herring, mackerel, swordfish, and porpoise. They are opportunistic feeders, eating just about anything. Despite their ferocious looks, they are not known to attack people. Bettr not to try though to be in their way!
